OPIVU Cosmetics Becomes Official Cosmetics of Legally Blonde, The Musical.

With Bailey Hanks, the winner of MTV’s The Search for Elle Woods contest, reprising her role as Elle Woods in the Diablo Theatre Company’s production of Legally Blonde, The Musical, the locally-based luxury line, OPIVU Cosmetics will be bringing all the style and glam of Elle Woods to life.

From February tenth (10th) to March third (3rd), there will be fourteen (14) performances of the Broadway hit, all of which will have cosmetics provided and styled and by the OPIVU [Cosmetics] team. Along with styling, OPIVU Cosmetics will have product placement opportunities throughout the performances. Susanna Stroberg-Gora, founder of OPIVU Cosmetics and veteran of styling for a magnitude of events, such as Fashion Week in Bryant Park, the Oscars and the Grammys, is the head makeup stylist for the production and will help to bring the Elle Woods’ sparkle to stage.

Known for her role as Elle Woods, the OPIVU team will style Bailey Hanks using the brand’s core collection and create specific looks associated with the characters from the production. For a limited time, OPIVU Cosmetics will bundle and offer the Elle Woods looks for purchase. The idea behind the Elle Woods/Legally Blonde cosmetics sets was to help the consumer take the guesswork out of buying cosmetics, by offering colors that have already been used on stage and off.

“Legally Blonde, The Musical” is based on the 2001 film of the same name, will open at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, on February 10, 2012. The show revolves around Elle Woods, as she travels to Harvard Law for love and law and finds out that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

I am what you might call a product “junky.” I am always excited to try new products and love to learn about the effects of different ingredients. I use a variety of different product lines for different styles and lengths but recently have been testing out the cleansing, conditioning, and styling products of Kevin Murphy, editorial stylist based out of Australia.

I had been exposed to Kevin Murphy Products a couple years back and always enjoyed the different pomades, but recently was reintroduced to the full product line seeing some of its full potential. Kevin Murphy offers a variety of different shampoos and conditioners for different hair types, including fine, coarse, damaged, and dry. The styling products are lightweight and extremely easy to use. You will be able to easily use these products alone or build them on top of one another without worries of weighing the hair down or effects of it feeling greasy. I have favorite products for different uses but since I have fine, flat, straight hair my favorite product to use on my own hair is the “Body Builder, Volumizing Mousse.” I use a little bit at the root of my hair when blow drying and it instantly it creates lift and beautiful volume.

Here is a picture of Danica Jackson, our newest sylist and manicurist from Salon OPIVU. I gave her a tutorial on smokey eyes last week in the salon with all of our OPIVU cosmetics. We used our custom blended foundation, mineral powder, adobe blush, coffee lashmere, bark eyeliner, alabaster, bronzite, and brazilian nut eyeshadows. We had warm weather longer than we expected but the cold weather is here and you know what that means: DRY SCALP and HAIR!

There are a few things you can do to keep moisturized. First you can use an oil like Argan or Marrakesh oil to make hair silky. It can be used in wet or dry hair, apply dime size amount to hand and rub hands together to break down product, apply and style as usual.

Second you can do a deep conditioning treatment once a week. We use Pure Olove 3, it rejuvenatesdull dry hair, it is enriched with natural vitamin E&B, certified olive oil, green tea, kiwi & pomegranate. This seals color, creates brilliant shine and acts as an anti-aging complex whilegiving hair a slight amount of volume and superior brush glide.

Third we have a dry scalp treatment by Framesi. This includes dry scalp drops and fluid which isenriched with Mediterranean Sicilian Blood Oranges (vitamin c and a natural antiseptic and astringent, effective in releaving dry scalp and its symptoms), propolis, vitamin H&E, farnesol(essential oil) and beta glucan (increases strength). There is also a dry scalp shampoo whichalso includes Mediterranean Sicilian Blood Oranges, farnesol, and beta glucan.
